Modern Dispatch Changes

Modern Dispatch Changes

Soon the Modern Dispatch will reach issue #100. This will be a special issue in which all four Modern Dispatch publishers will contribute. Issue #100 will be a 100 adventure modern hooks, each publisher penning 25.

With this milestone, the Modern Dispatch will undergo a number of significant changes.

First, the frequency of issues is going to change. The Modern Dispatch will no longer be released on a fixed weekly schedule, but rather released as we complete them. This will allow us flexibly and relieve some of the stress of having to complete issues by a certain deadline. However, we will maintain a pace of no less than 1 and no more than 4 issues a month.

Second, to accommodate the above change, we will be we selling subscriptions based on number of issues rather than for a fixed time period. So instead of selling 3 month subscriptions we will be selling 10 issue subscriptions.

Third, we will open up the content of the Dispatch to all things modern, not just adventure focused martial.

Lastly, the contributing publishers are changing. Some publishers are leaving (Adamant, Ronin Arts) and some new ones are coming aboard. RPGObjects will be the main publishers, releasing one issue a month with other publishers contributing issues periodically as well. Some of the new publishers committing to do Dispatch issues include: Blue Devil, Swords Edge Publishing, Steampowered Publishing, Misfit Studios, Reality Deviant, 12 to Midnight, and possibly more.

We at RPGObjects are looking forward to working with the new publishers and hope d20 modern fans will enjoy the new Modern Dispatch.

FAQ

What if I already have a subscription?
You will be credited for a number of issues depending on the time left on your subscription (i.e. if you have 1 month left, you will be given 4 issues). You can also get refund in RPGObjects credit if you prefer.

Why the changes?
Lots of reason, but the main one being that the time commitment was to much for the contributing publishers.

Will the content change?
Yes, we will be doing all thinks modern, not just adventure focused material.

How often will issues be released?
At least 1 and no more than 4 issues a month. RPGObjects will pen 1 issue a month and other modern publishers will contribute issues as their time permits.

Joining the Modern Dispatch

Joining the Modern Dispatch

If you’re a quality d20 Modern publisher and would like to join the dispatch, here is how it works.

You will create and sell your issue under your own RPGNow.com account, keeping all the sales. You will also receive a fixed payment based on the current number of subscribers.

We will provide you a layout template (In Design format) if you want it. You’re also free to do a new layout; you just need to use the Modern Dispatch logo.

That’s it. Email us if you’re interested, webmaster@rpgnow.com

Is there any particular reason why Adamant and Ronin Arts are leaving?

What about those out there who want to write something for the Magazine but are not publishers. Should they approach those that are on the above list and pitch or send it into the mag directly?

Regards,
Walt

Publishers have only so much time and energy. Both felt they would rather put their efforts in other areas that are a higher priority for them. They both have a lot of stuff going on.
